Today’s specialty acrylics, with new coating technologies, are a preferable alternative to glass for optical display applications. Acrylic’s light weight makes it the practical and safe choice for large display screens and handheld applications. Its impact strength compared to glass, gives display screen OEM’s and designers more flexibility and greater choices to improve product design.

Cutting glare is an increasingly important design element for consumer display products. Anti-Reflective coatings applied to acrylic sheet significantly reduce glare and improve clarity. Abrasion resistant coatings offers outstanding optical performance with an abrasion and chemical resistant coating on one or both surfaces. These specialty acrylics are designed specifically for the high-performance needs of LCD’s, PDA’s, projection television screens, and multimedia displays. Optoelectronic grades include:

ACRYLITE® Abrasion Resistant, Optical Grade acrylic sheet is continuously manufactured acrylic sheet offering outstanding optical performance. Its high optical quality, light weight and excellent impact strength make it the preferred material for LCD’s, PDA’s, projection television screens and multimedia displays.

ACRYLITE® Non-Glare, Abrasion Resistant, Optical Grade acrylic sheet minimizes glare with a matte finish and resists scratching with an abrasion resistant coating. Used exclusively in the optoelectronics market.

ACRYLITE® Anti-Reflective acrylic sheet is an ideal glazing material for optical displays, improving screen clarity with more than 97% light transmission. It cuts glare to less than 2% total light reflectance allowing displays to be easily viewed from any angle regardless of lighting conditions. With many times the impact strength of glass and greater mar resistance than uncoated sheet, it provides added protection and increased durability for front panel displays, i.e. PDA, LCD, CRT, PDP and instrument clusters.
